Amalia Nickel is a writer, producer and educator with an inquisitive mind and a passion for words. She specializes in adapting written and visual content for use in multiple contexts, and is currently researching the translation of complex expression for her Masters of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies.
Amalia found her way to the top of the Canadian hip-hop industry in 2010 – she helped build HipHopCanada’s West Coast team from the ground up, working alongside legends in the process. From adjudicating the Junos rap category to providing Junos red carpet coverage, she is firmly embedded in Canadian media and music – though her focus is currently on teaching.
Amalia has interviewed some of the most important names in hip-hop, including Drake, Pharrell and Lil’ Kim, bringing to each interview a unique blend of psychological awareness and historical relevance; the belief that artists play an important role in the development of culture has led her to appreciate and document the process many times over.
Between integrating musicians with community-based PR campaigns, producing music videos and documentaries and developing branding strategies, Amalia is ecstatic at the chance to share her skill set with the Nimbus team.
