When students first come to Nimbus, they often tell us about their passions, hopes and dreams. We are always proud and excited to hear of our alumni finding success in their chosen career.
Alumnus David Pimentel a.k.a. Pomo has carved his own path in the music industry and we are incredibly proud of all his hard work and success! Originally from BC, Pomo moved to Montreal in 2013 to pursue his passion as a beats and electronic music producer. His move to Montreal proved a smart choice as he quickly rose to success on the world stage as a beat maker and producer.
Two years ago, Pomo joined HW&W Recordings after his track “So Fine” was picked up by Montreal producer Kaytranada. “So Fine” went on to be included in sets by Disclosure, Gigamesh and Falcons. He released his EP “The Other Day” on HW&W in November 2014. In an early article, Pomo described his music as:
“…funky electronic, with a lot of synths! Mostly music that makes people dance. I try to maintain an old school method of production. The level of musicality you needed back in the day made it much harder to produce music, as compared to now with computers and software so readily available.”
Pomo’s success definitely has not stopped there. 2015 has seen continuing successes for Pomo. With a world tour and continued collaborations with some of the world’s best artists, Pomo’s star continues to rise on the global beat music stage.
Well done, David. Everyone at Nimbus wishes you continued success!
