Nimbus School of Recording & Media is more than a school. We are a vibrant, creative, and collaborative community.
Since first opening our doors in 2009, Nimbus has sought to do education differently, offering a unique blend of career-focused, hands-on training, experiential learning, collaboration, and mentorship from industry leaders, and a focus on interpersonal development and accountability.
Learning “How To Be” Not Just How To Do
Students who train at Nimbus have the opportunity to learn from the best in the business and get a real understanding of life in today’s ever-evolving media industry.
All Nimbus students take a series of classes teaching interpersonal and relational skills, psychology, conflict resolution and how to be your very best. Read more about Nimbus psychology classes and our approach to interpersonal and relational training here.
Collaboration Through The Nimbus Ecosystem
All Nimbus students benefit from a collaborative education ecosystem, working across disciplines to:
- scout real artists
- record music
- market and promote the artist
- create Electronic Press Kits (EPKs) and music videos
- produce, record and live stream concerts
- distribute through our own record label via Universal Music Canada and Nimbus sponsor YANGAROO DMDS.
This Nimbus Ecosystem embodies the core values of Nimbus: a passion for excellence and hands-on learning. By having projects move through the different courses, students in multiple disciplines get collaborative experience on real life projects in the media and entertainment industry. Training The Whole Person: Accountability & Responsibility
All Nimbus School courses are taught using a progressive, continuous learning style, which breaks down each topic into its theoretical and practical elements.
Each module builds on the last, enabling students to start with little to no technical knowledge and progress through their education to a place where they are able to run their own sessions and tackle technical problems with confidence and professionalism.
“Nimbus is a very progressive school,” said Clinical Counsellor, instructor of Nimbus psychology classes, Tamara Adilman. “They believe that learning how to deal with people in this industry is just as important as being technically excellent. I think that says a lot about the school. I think the climate that’s been created here, the safety that the students feel and the reason the students are so motivated has a lot to do with how forward thinking the school is, the school really cares about the students as individuals and the students know that.”
