Getting jobs as an entry-level music producer

by voice
0 Comment

From #NimbusATP (Ask the Pros) comes a questions from @Teetooz: How much does an entry-level producer make and is it relatively hard to get a job?

Here is the answer from Nimbus instructor and Fader Master Sound Studios producer Shawn Cole (@doctorboss). Shawn has been recording, producing and mixing bands in Vancouver for over ten years. He likes long walks on the beach, signal processing and telling people what to do. As a recording engineer he strives to capture the most interesting and compelling sounds possible. Compromise is out of the question. As a producer he strives to help the artist reach their true potential. He wants to make you perform better than you thought you could. As a mixer, under the moniker Doctor Boss, he lets the song dictate how it should be mixed. Variety excites him. Appreciating all genres he approaches his craft as a fan of music.

…Nimbus doesn’t feel like a school at all. Nimbus feels more like home. There really is no other place like it. If your dreams are in the music and recording industry, your money will be wasted going elsewhere. Nimbus is the future of music. Fact.
Nolan Gladu
Nimbus is more than just a school. It is a philosophy, an attitude, a way of life… My experience there has made me not only a better engineer, but a better person as well!
Owen Marmorek
Not only did I learn how to engineer and produce, I learned how to utilize my time and energy for something I really care about, and all the while having more fun then I ever imagined possible.
Chloe Anne Lloyd
